February 2026 Advocacy Updates

We are most excited with increasing involvement of NIFDA members in our 2026 advocacy efforts!

Here's an update on what's underway in 2026...

Make American Flags in America Bill

We continue to progress in our efforts with the Make American Flags in America bill.  Larry Severini  (Embroidery Solutions) and Julye Spinelli (Saratoga Flag) are focused on urging existing co-sponsors Rep. Biggs (AZ), Nehls (TX), Hageman (WY), Van Drew (NJ) to speak with Chairman Jordan about bringing the bill to a markup.

2027 Congress

NIFDA and FMAA, in collaboration with the National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO), are preparing a coordinated strategy for the next Congress in 2027.

We are looking to take the next step with each of our Advocacy Priorities

  • Strengthening country-of-origin labeling requirements to provide clearer transparency for consumers

  • Exploring requirements for online sellers to display country-of-origin information directly within product listings

  • Evaluating potential tariff adjustments for imported U.S. flags

  • Reviewing opportunities to strengthen federal procurement through GSA schedules, contracts, bids, and smaller direct orders with dealers

NIFDA members involved in these discussions are Larry Severini (Embroidery Solutions), David McGehee (Columbia Flag), Reggie VandenBosch (Valley Forge Flag), Jennifer Christiansen (FlagSource), Liz Morris (Freedom and Glory), Jose Barreto (Glendale Parade Store), and Mike Stokes (Allied Materials).

State-Level Momentum

  • With help from Mike Tooley (Montana Flag and Pole Company), Jennifer Christiansen (FlagSource), and Liz Morris (Freedom and Glory), we are creating a legislative “playbook” to help dealers support flag-related legislation in their own states

  • Active flag bills are currently moving in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Nevada

  • As this initiative takes shape, we will be reaching out to the dealer community with opportunities to get involved!
