March 2026 Advocacy Update
The Advocacy Committee continues to make progress across three key workstreams, building on 2026 priorities while laying the groundwork for longer-term federal and state impact.
1. Make American Flags in America Act (2026 Focus)
Work continues to advance the Make American Flags in America Act.
Members were recently asked to contact their Congressional representatives to help move the bill forward. If you missed that email, you can view it here.
If you have reached out, please let us know at members@nifda.net so we can coordinate follow-up efforts
2. Federal Strategy for 2027 (In Partnership with NCTO)
NIFDA and FMAA are working with NCTO to define priorities for a new federal bill in the 2027 Congress.
Key areas under consideration:
Strengthening the definition and labeling of U.S. flags to improve consumer transparency
Evaluating tariff structures and trade policy tools impacting imported flags
Enhancing enforcement of country-of-origin labeling requirements
Next steps:
Conducting research to inform draft legislative language
Identifying potential sponsors and building bipartisan support
3. State-Level Advocacy and Dealer Engagement
NIFDA is expanding efforts to support dealer-led advocacy at the state level.
Tracking current state legislation related to American-made U.S. and state flags
Developing a dedicated state-level advocacy webpage, including:
A state-by-state view of existing legislation
A legislative “playbook” to help dealers initiate efforts in their own states
Additional opportunities for member involvement will be shared as this work progresses.
